Samuel L. Jackson is one of the industry veterans. He is best known for his roles in Jurassic Park, the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Goodfellas, Coming to America, Menace II Society and Pulp Fiction. The veteran actor will now voice the father of the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating feline.
In Alcon Entertainment’s planned animated theatrical motion picture based on the renowned comic strip Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson will star with Chris Pratt. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson will play Vic, Garfield’s father, in a brand-new role. Pratt was previously revealed to voice the lasagna-loving, Monday-hating comic strip cat Garfield.
The new animated feature will be directed by Mark Dindal and it’s based on a script written by David Reynolds. Sony Pictures is responsible for worldwide distribution, excluding China. Jim Davis, the creator of the Garfield comic series and brand, will executive produce alongside Bridget McMeel and Craig Sost for Alcon.
Alcon principals Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove will produce alongside John Cohen and Steven P. Wegner. With Alcon Entertainment, DNEG Animation will animate and produce the film. Producers include DNEG CEO Namit Malhotra and DNEG president Tom Jacomb.
The cynical and indolent orange cat Garfield and his interactions with his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and fellow pet Odie, the affectionate dog, were created by cartoonist Davis and debuted in June 1978. Release date is yet to be announced. To get latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
