Deshaun Watson is synonymous with his #4 jersey. The new Cleveland Browns quarterback had a bit of an issue when he signed with his new squad. That number was already taken by linebacker Anthony Walker.
To keep his number, Deshaun made a very generous deal. Watson has worn #4 ever since his college days as a Clemson Tiger. It’s so important to him that he was willing to give his teammate a very expensive gift in exchange for letting him use it, according to TMZ Sports.
During Deshaun Watson’s press conference after OTAs on Wednesday, he handed Anthony Walker a Rolex watch. Walker said he appreciated it. He humbly refused to open the box in front of the press when they asked him to.
“Nah, I’m not. That’s a good guy.”
Walker was asked if the watch was in exchange for his coveted jersey number. Anthony said it was, but he’d prefer to keep it on the hush. Just as soon as that, Deshaun Watson officially became #4 for the Browns.
Watson is facing multiple accusations of sexual assault and misconduct and many believe a suspension is looming. Deshaun might have to sit out several weeks before he gets to put on the #4 Cleveland jersey. As he deals with the stress from all the controversy, Anthony Walker is just enjoying his new watch.
