Jimmy Kimmel’s emotional monologue about the recent Texas elementary school shooting was inexplicably cut off in the city of Dallas. Viewers are confused when their favorite late-night host’s opening speech failed to air. Kimmel immediately demanded answers.
During the monologue, Jimmy called out Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his inaction in the wake of the massacre. At least eighteen children and two adults were senselessly killed. Kimmel was among millions of Americans searching for answers.
The 9-minute speech appealed to lawmakers, Abbott, and the public to enact some sort of gun reform. School shootings have become such a common occurrence in the US that many accuse lawmakers of simply accepting them as part of our way of life. For Jimmy Kimmel, that wasn’t enough.
The powerful speech was cut off in Dallas. Kimmel tweeted at the station, ABC affiliate WFAA. He was not sure if his monologue was cut off intentionally or accidentally, but he wanted answers. Jimmy shared the video for viewers in Dallas to see the whole thing.
“To my friends in Dallas who are asking: I do not know whether our @ABCNetwork affiliate @wfaa cut away from my monologue tonight intentionally or inadvertently but I will find out. In the meantime, here’s what you didn’t get to see”
WFAA claims that commercials began to run automatically. They say that this happened due to the local newscast running late with coverage of the shooting. Station management denies that Jimmy was cut off on purpose as he criticized the state’s inaction.
