Nick Diaz is a true veteran in the MMA world and had not competed inside the Octagon for many years. Fans for a long time wondered if he would ever return to the Octagon. Diaz now wants a title shot against Kamaru Usman this year.
Their questions were answered as Nick Diaz faced off against Robbie Lawler for his return fight at UFC 266. UFC President Dana White even compared Nick Diaz to Mike Tyson before his fight.
Robbie Lawler and Nick Diaz put on a solid bout last year, as they chose to trade shots and make it a very physical affair. Ultimately, Robbie Lawler eventually overwhelmed Nick Diaz and hit him with a right hook that sent him crashing to the canvas in the third round.
While speaking to TMZ Sports, Nick Diaz revealed that he plans on returning to the Octagon towards the end of this year. In fact, Diaz added that he wants a title shot against Kamaru Usman.
“We’re working on the end of the year. I wanna fight for the title. I don’t wanna do all this — I’m 38 years old.
I think I’ll beat him[Kamaru Usman].
Nick Diaz previously said that he will come right back to MMA should he lose to Robbie Lawler. Clearly, he is making good on his promise now. We’ll have to see whether Diaz will face off against Kamaru Usman or not.
