Ruby Barker made a name for herself thanks to her role as Marina Thompson in both the seasons of the ever-popular Netflix ‘Bridgerton.’ Her excellent portrayal of the character won the hearts of many. However, she seems to be dealing with several mental health issues.
Ruby Barker took to her Instagram and uploaded a video, where she went into detail regarding her ongoing mental health issues. Ruby told her fans that she has been hospitalized.
“I have been really unwell for a really long time. I want to be honest with everyone. I have been struggling.”
Ruby wasn’t specific about where she was receiving treatment from, as she just said: “I am in hospital at the minute and I am going to be discharged soon and hopefully get to continue with my life.”
Barker sent the message during Mental Health Awareness Week in the U.K, so it was most certainly not a coincidence. Fans naturally supported her throughout all this.
“I am going to take a little bit of a break for myself and I would encourage others, if you are struggling, do yourself a favor and take a break. Stop being so hard on yourself.”
Barker further explained what symptoms had manifested that made her realize she needed immediate help, stating she was “rage-filled” with “intergenerational trauma bundled up inside me.”
“I was carrying the weight of the world on my back and now I am at the point where I can have a diagnosis … I can’t carry on the way that I was. I need to change so that is what I am trying to do. I want to survive and I will survive. I am going to.”
There is no doubt that her message will help out those who are also suffering from mental health issues. Mental health is something that should be taken seriously and we applaud her for speaking so candidly about it. We hope Ruby Barker makes a full recovery as soon as possible.
