Donald Glover is widely known by his stage name Childish Gambino. Glover has been quite busy between ending “Atlanta” and beginning production on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” However, it seems Donald Glover might also kick off with a ‘Star Wars’ series, but he holds all the cards.
Star Wars fans from all over the world went to Anaheim, California, this past weekend for a four-day conference. It was packed with news about their favorite film franchise and its several spinoff series. Kathleen Kennedy, CEO of Lucasfilm, was asked about a project with Donald Glover that was teased a few years ago during an interview with CinemaBlend.
If you’re unfamiliar, the rapper/actor portrayed a younger version of Lando Calrissian in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. Not long after his beloved portrayal of the character made its debut, it was announced that Dear White People writer-director Justin Simien was developing an original series called Lando. Kennedy recently discussed about it.
You need to ask Donald. He’s the one that holds all the cards here. But there’s no movement. I will say that honestly. But it’s not for lack of trying. It’s just that he’s a very busy guy.
Glover is currently working on another series, most likely his Mr. & Mrs. Smith project in conjunction with Amazon Prime. According to the Lucasfilm president, after he finishes that and one more item, he will return to Lucasfilm. Check out the video below.
