Jada Pinkett Smith Says They’re ‘Figuring Out’ Life Together After Chris Rock Oscars Slap

Will Smith hitting Chris Rock is something that people will always remember. Many people voiced their opinions on the issue, but Will and Jada kept silent. On the June 1 episode of ‘Red Table Talk,’ Jada briefly addressed her husband slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars earlier this year.

According to Hollywood Life, Will Smith has kept quiet after slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. His wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, finally spoke out about it on Red Table Talk. She expressed her thoughts on the Facebook Watch show on June 1st.

“My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile. The state of the world today, we need them both. And we all actually need one another more than ever.”

She also stated her support for her husband, despite the abuse he faced for hitting Chris on live television. “Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that keeps figuring out this thing called life together,” she added. “Thank you for listening.”

Jada made the choice to address the Oscars slap on this episode since she and her co-hosts were talking about alopecia. Will smacked Chris when the comedian likened his wife to G.I. Jane because of her shaved head. Chris had no idea Jada had alopecia, but the joke enraged Will to the point where he felt compelled to intervene to defend his wife.

“Considering what I’ve been through with my own health and what happened at the Oscars, thousands have reached out to me with their stories. I’m using this moment to give our alopecia family an opportunity to talk about what it’s like to have this condition and to inform people about what alopecia actually is.”

Will was barred from attending the Oscars or any other Academy-hosted event for the next ten years after slapping Chris. Will addressed the matter on Instagram, apologizing for his “inexcusable” conduct. He has been silent about what happened after then. Meanwhile, this was Jada’s first public remark on what had occurred.

She did, however, promise that there will be a future discussion on what transpired on RTT.

“Considering all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has focused on deep healing. Some of the discoveries around our healing will be shared at the table when the time calls.”
