Young Dolph was brutally gunned down in his home city of Memphis just days before Thanksgiving last year. Now his alleged killers have a new court date.
According to FOX13 Memphis, Young Dolph’s killers, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith received a new court date. This comes after a lengthy wait for the legal process to continue.
Johnson and Smith were present at court on Friday, May 27th, where their lawyers requested to reschedule. Reporter Jeremy Pierre explained on Twitter, ” YOUNG DOLPH ACCUSED KILLERS COURT DATE RESET: Cornelius Smith and Justin Johnson’s attorneys have request today’s hearing to be rest to July 1st. Smith’s bond hearing will be on that day as well. Attorneys say they have received new discovery in the case that needs to be viewed.”
Cornelius Smith’s attorney, Michael Scholl, believes that he has more evidence that can prove to be in his client’s favor. The new evidence might convince a judge to grant a bond to Smith. Smith’s family is going to speak on his behalf at the July 1st court hearing.
Scholl explained, “We are receiving more information and I want to take a look at that. One of the factors that goes into the bond is likelihood of conviction. Other factors are flight risk.”
As we know, Young Dolph was shot in November 2021, while he was picking up some baked goods from Makeda’s Homemade Cookies. He was in his hometown for Thanksgiving when the unfortunate incident happened. Autopsy reports claim that Dolph was shot approximately twenty-two times.
