Dave Chappelle was having a nice set at the Hollywood Bowl during Netflix’s special, but that didn’t go as planned. A 23-year-old guy named Isaiah Lee jumped the stage and tackled the comedian, then his arm was broken in the beatdown for his troubles. Now Lee is getting a deal.

Rolling Stone reports that Lee is considering a plea deal from prosecutors in his misdemeanor case. The guy appeared in an L.A. courthouse on Thursday where he agreed to a two-month delay in the case’s hearing for a separate incident where he’s being charged with attempted murder. He allegedly stabbed his roommate during an altercation in December, unrelated to Dave Chappelle.

That attempted murder charge came to light two weeks after the incident with Chappell at the Netflix Is A Joke festival. He was charged with battery, possession of a weapon, and commission of an act that delays an event for the Chappelle attack.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón declined to press felony charges against Lee because the weapon he was carrying around at the time, a knife attached to a fake handgun, was kept in the folded position. Chappelle was not hurt in the attack, but the same cannot be said for Lee.

This situation could have been a lot worse, so thankfully things ended as they did. It still doesn’t make comedians feel any safer on stage. This situation is still ongoing and we will continue to provide coverage here at Thirsty.
