Kim Kardashian recently announced her SKKN line of skincare products. The name is a little too familiar to an existing line for some fans. Lori Harvey’s skincare company is known as “SKN,” which has caused some fans to accuse Kardashian of ripping the name off in plain daylight.
The “SKKN” name was trademarked back in July of 2021. The new brand was announced on June 1 by Kim Kardashian. A cease and desist was sent by lawyers representing Cyndie Lundford, who has been running SKKN+ out of Brooklyn since 2018. Now, a conflict with Harvey’s brand is causing controversy.
Esthetician and content creator Sean Garrette took to Twitter to ask if he should review Kim’s new skincare line. In asking, he also pointed out the similarity with Lori Harvey’s brand. There were plenty of diverse thoughts on the matter, but many expressed that they believe the names are too close to be a coincidence.
Others argued that since Kim Kardashian included her initials in the name that it stood out enough to be distinct. Kardashian also owns the SKIMS shapewear collection. The names are similar enough to believe that this could have been a co-branding effort.
Lori Harvey has not mentioned any objections to Kim Kardashian’s skincare line. If anyone were to take legal action, it would be her. For now, it appears Kim K. is safe.
Time will tell if there is any further buzz about the similar brand names. Kim Kardashian has faced copyright and trademark issues in the past. She’s an attorney, she can handle it.
