Rey Maualuga DUI Arrest Video Shows Cop Saying He Was ‘Sweating Booze’

Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga was charged with driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, criminal mischief, and wanton endangerment in August 2021. His arrest video has now been released where a cop could be heard saying that he was heavily intoxicated.

The cop in the clip is of the opinion that Rey Maualuga was so drunk that he could “smell” him “sweating the booze out” while he was arresting him on August 11th, 2021. According to the video obtained by TMZ Sports, Maualuga could be seen getting arrested just after he crashed his car through front yards and then into a parked car in the neighborhood.

The video also has snippets from the aftermath of the incident, where Maualuga’s car could be seen in a mess as it was crammed into another vehicle. It was not a good look, for sure.

In the clip, an officer asked Rey if he would be open to taking a field sobriety test a couple of feet away from the crash scene. Rey denied his request and the next moment the cop went ahead to handcuff him and as he tied the cuffs, he said, “I can just smell you sweating the booze out, my man.”

Maualuga was constantly saying sorry throughout the arrest to officers and medical personnel who came to check on him. He was ultimately taken to the police station and hit with three charges.

Maualuga pleaded guilty to these charges in May 2022 and entered a pre-trial diversion program which means if he stays clean for the next five years, all of these charges will be dismissed.
