Nick Cannon is undeniably talented, and it’s easy to understand why. Aside from being a rapper, he is also a well-known comedian in Hollywood, among other things. However, Nick has recently spoken out about his ex-wife Mariah Carey and claimed that during his marriage, he discovered how costly it was to be Carey.
On “The Joe Budden Podcast,” Nick Cannon revealed how his marriage to Mariah Carey influenced his work ethic, revealing that the singer wouldn’t leave the house for a gig unless it paid well. Cannon, who was married to Carey from 2008 to 2014, said, “Mariah don’t step out the house — it cost her $150,000, $200,000 just to walk out the house,” The costs were attributed to “everything from security to hair and makeup to jets,” according to the “Masked Singer” presenter.
Despite his success in the film and music industries, Cannon said he hadn’t yet experienced the severe costs involved with Carey’s popularity until the pair began “building a partnership.”
“I’ve never dealt with these levels of numbers that now I’m 50/50 in.”
Cannon then added, “I’m not a boy toy,” acknowledging that his marriage to Carey was originally questioned by people. Cannon eventually revealed that he sought professional guidance, including “financial advisors” and “board members,” in order to increase his earnings.
Carey has a reputation for living a lavish lifestyle. Vanity Fair reports that while on tour, she stayed in opulent hotels that cost $15,000 a night. Her ex-fiancé, billionaire James Packer, who she divorced in 2016, also gifted her a boat. According to Entertainment Tonight, the boat’s upkeep costs around $340,000 every week.
Before splitting in 2014, Cannon and Carey married in 2008 and welcomed twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in 2011. In 2016, their divorce was finalized. Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
