Johnny Depp has opened up a TikTok account following his recent legal victory over ex-wife Amber Heard in their highly-publicized defamation trial. The actor joined the video-sharing app on Monday, June 6th.
So far, Depp has amassed more than 2.5 million followers on the verified TikTok account @JohnnyDepp. Despite the large following, the Pirates of The Caribbean star is yet to post his first TikTok video. Depp opened the account days after a Virginia jury awarded him more than $10 million in his libel suit against Heard, who is 36, on Wednesday, over a 2018 opinion piece she penned for The Washington Post.
Depp sued the Aquaman star for $50 million over the piece, titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence – and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.” The op-ed does not mention Depp by name, but his lawyers said it falsely implied he physically and sexually abused Heard while they were together.
Following the jury awarded the verdict in Depp’s favor, he said in a statement that he was “humbled” that the jury had “given me my life back”. Stay tuned to Thirsty for further updates.
