Fans couldn’t believe it when legendary golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a horrific car crash in Los Angeles on February 23rd last year. The mystery surrounding the crash puzzled fans for a long time as well. Unfortunately, Woods won’t be competing in the U.S. Open now.
Thankfully, Tiger Woods has recovered exceptionally well, more than a year since the accident. He even competed in both the Masters and the PGA Championship earlier this year. However, he had issues with his leg both times.
According to TMZ Sports, Tiger Woods officially announced that he will not be competing in the U.S. Open. Woods revealed that he still needs more time to heal and get stronger.
“My body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf.”
At the Masters in April, he performed well in the first two rounds but had difficulties in the last two. At the PGA Championship in May, he worked hard for three rounds before he eventually withdrew before to the fourth round.
Tiger Woods stated that he was hopeful he would be able to get his body strong enough to compete in The Open Championship on July 14th. We’ll have to see whether he will be ready by then or not.
