Amber Heard’s Own Testimony Blamed For Losing Defamation Trial & Not Social Media

Johnny Depp’s courtroom victory over Amber Heard has been celebrated by fans around the world. Throughout the trial, Depp won in the court of public opinion. Heard’s legal team believes there is no doubt the jury was tainted by the social media backlash against their client.

Depp’s legal team disagrees completely. Camille Vasquez, who famously picked apart Amber Heard during her testimony, says it was a different story. Vasquez told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that the strategy all along was to let Heard doom herself with her own words.

That strategy paid off, according to Johnny Depp’s legal team. Lawyer Ben Chew said the social media support for Depp played no part in the verdict. Chew explained himself to Stephanopoulos.

“My view is that social media played no role whatsoever. This was a decision made by the jury on the evidence presented by both sides, and as Camille said, it was overwhelmingly in Mr. Depp’s favor.”

Amber Heard’s attorneys say that without a sequestered jury, there was no way to avoid the media circus surrounding the trial. The number of posts supporting Johnny Depp and attacking their client was overwhelming. That may be taken into consideration if and when the case is appealed.

Johnny Depp and his team believe they won a fair case based on the evidence. Amber Heard’s lawyers think that was impossible. This does not look like the end of the ongoing legal struggle, but for now, Team Johnny is thrilled with the result.
