The UFC has many big fights they could put on. It turns out that the company is working on a big money contest right now. Dana White, the president of The UFC, made an appearance on the Pat McAfee show where he talked about a potential fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
A fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic has been in the talks for years now but is still yet to happen. White revealed that Miocic has agreed to square off against Jones.
Jon Jones has not entered the Octagon in over two and a half years. Since then, a lot has transpired, including Jones vacating his light heavyweight belt and proclaiming his intention to go up to heavyweight.
However, more than two years after his previous UFC fight, Jones has failed to make his heavyweight debut, despite ongoing speculation and rumors about him potentially facing either Stipe Miocic or Francis Ngannou.
White shared on the show, “[Jon Jones is] talking about fighting at heavyweight. But, in the heavyweight division right now we are going back to Houston, Derrick Lewis is taking on Ciryl Gane and whoever wins that fight will fight Francis Ngannou. Whoever wins that fight, if Jon Jones wants to come back he can fight one of them. Or, he can fight Stipe Miocic. Stipe has accepted that fight and will take that fight.”
With Ngannou currently recovering from knee surgery and embroiled in a contract dispute with the UFC, now would be the ideal moment to make Jones versus Miocic, which would be one of the most important matches in the UFC heavyweight division’s history. Watch Dana White’s interview below.
