Rapper Roddy Ricch rose to fame following the release of his single “Die Young.” Since then, Ricch has earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance and has been nominated for multiple other awards. Although things appeared to be looking up for the 23-year-old artist, a recent discovery by New York City Police seemingly halted Ricch’s momentum. Now, he could breathe a sigh of relief for a bit.

TMZ confirmed that Ricch was released from custody following an incident at the New York Governor’s Ball security checkpoint. Law enforcement officers reportedly found a firearm inside Ricch’s vehicle and nine rounds of ammo along with a large-capacity magazine. The rapper was arrested, along with two other people. The festival broke the news to fans of Ricch with a short message on Twitter. You can check out the message below.

This isn’t the first issue involving a miss performance at the Governor’s Ball. After Migos had to pull out due to a scheduling conflict, Lil Wayne was said to be stepping in to take their place. Unfortunately, Wayne canceled just hours before his Friday night set due to a “flight disruption.”

Ricch was featured on Post Malone’s single “Cooped Up” last month. Variety also named him the Breakthrough artist of 2020. We’ll have to wait and see whether this will damage Ricch’s career.
