Amber Heard recently lost her high-profile defamation case against Johnny Depp. After weeks of captivating testimony, jurors sided with Depp, who claimed Heard defamed him by writing an op-ed accusing him of abuse. Amber Heard recently had her first chance to speak out since the trial.
Heard sat down with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie for a primetime interview where she opened up about her thoughts on the case. In a preview shown on this morning’s Today show, Heard said she understood why the jury sided with Johnny Depp. Amber doesn’t blame them for taking sides but does believe the jury was tainted by social media.
“I actually understand. He’s a beloved character and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor…
I don’t care what one thinks about me or what judgments you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my own home, in my marriage, behind closed doors. I don’t presume the average person should know those things. And so I don’t take it personally.
But even somebody who is sure I’m deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”
The full interview will air in parts on Tuesday and Wednesday’s Today Show. The complete chat will debut on a special episode of Dateline on Friday at 8 PM eastern. It should be very interesting to hear what Amber Heard thinks of everything that went down.
