Adam Sandler was on Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1995 before moving on to feature in a number of Hollywood blockbusters. Adam has always loved hoops and implemented other sports into many of his films. He has been working on an upcoming basketball film called Hustle. The film will feature a number of current and former NBA players, including Anthony Edwards, Trae Young, and a few 76ers.
Hustle includes a stellar cast of former and current NBA players. Sandler and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James are producing the Netflix original film in 2022. Jeremiah Zagar is directing the sports drama Hustle, which is based on an original story by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters.
Although Adam Sandler leads a cast that includes well-known actors like Queen Latifah and Ben Foster, the combination of his star power and LeBron James combined to create a memorable ensemble for sports enthusiasts. The initial Hustle movie teaser gave moviegoers a fair indication of what to anticipate from Sandler’s upcoming Netflix film.
In comparison to his prior Netflix original films, this is a more dramatic turn for the actor. Stanley Beren, played by Sandler, is a former basketball talent scout in Hustle. Stanely, on the other hand, strives to help a troubled prospect make it to the National Basketball Association when he discovers a possibly generational talent abroad.
The underdog redemption story is fairly typical in the sports genre, but Hustle is a bit of a passion project for Adam Sandler because of his love of basketball. Hustled promised plenty of NBA action and cameos from the first trailer, and Sandler delivered. Bo Cruz, played by Juan Hernangomez, a former Spanish professional basketball player, is the major character in Hustle, aside from Adam Sandler.
Hustle also features Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ high-flying scoring machine. Moritz Wagner, a German-born NBA player, who is now with the Orlando Magic is also featured. Hustle features more than just contemporary NBA superstars. Julius “Dr. J” Irving, regarded by some as the greatest Sixer of all time, has a cameo in the film that sets up a major plot point.
Dirk Nowitzki, a two-time NBA MVP in 2007 and 2011, is another NBA alumni who has a more significant role in Hustle than a cameo appearance. The 2022 Netflix movie Hustle also featured NBA stars Trae Young, current Miami Heat point guard Kyle Lowry, Jordan Clarkson, Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks, Aaron Gordon, defensive specialist Matisse Thybulle, Tyrese Maxey, Tobias Harris, deadly three-point shooter Seth Curry, Boban Marjanović, Doc Rivers, Kenny ‘The Jet’ Smith and Mark Jackson.
The following is a list of other NBA players and personalities who make brief appearances in Hustle:
– Maurice Cheeks, former 76ers player and coach.
– Aaron McKie, former 76ers player.
– Allen Iverson, former 76ers NBA MVP.
– Dave Joerger, 76ers assistant coach.
– Pat Croce, former 76ers president and minority owner.
– Billy King, former 76ers general manager.
– Willy Hernangómez, Jose Calderón, Pierre Oriola, Alex Abrines, and Felipe Reyes, former Spanish national-team players.
– Luka Dončić, Dallas Mavericks player.
– Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner.
– Brad Stevens, Boston Celtics president.
– Dell Dumps, Utah Jazz assistant coach.
– Jay Wright, a two-time NCAA champion coach.
– Grayson “the Professor” Boucher, street basketball Instagram celebrity.
– James Goldstein, No.1 NBA superfan.
All of the aforementioned stars appear in the film at various points. The NBA appearances in Hustle are so numerous that detailing them all would require a scene-by-scene plot synopsis. Hustle was a success with NBA fans because it depicts the adrenaline-fueled world of the NBA draught quite accurately. Check out the trailer below.
