Lil Wayne Denied Entry Into United Kingdom & Forced To Cancel Concert

Lil Wayne has been denied entry to The United Kingdom just before the Strawberries and Creem festival. In fact, this is not the first time that he has been not allowed to enter the U.K. but fans are upset because the show was going to be the rapper’s only European show this year.

According to a statement released by the Strawberries and Creem festival before Wayne’s concert on Wednesday, the U.K. Home Office refused Lil Wayne admission into the country in a “last-minute decision.”

The statement read, “We are deeply disappointed by this sudden and negative ruling. We have received very minimal notice, and the timing of the decision is of course upsetting for all involved – including Lil Wayne’s fans, as well as the festival team. Across the weekend, we still have an incredible array of artists joining us.”

According to the organizers of the festival, the event was supposed to be Lil Wayne’s only European appearance in 2022. The multi-Grammy-winning artist was supposed to perform with Tion Wayne, Mabel Wilkinson, and Katy B on Saturday, June 18.

The Home Office confirmed the rapper’s denial of admission, stating that anybody who has earned a 12-month or longer prison sentence “must have their application refused.”

Lil Wayne was sentenced to a year in jail in 2010 for gun possession, of which he served eight months. He pled guilty to a federal firearms crime in 2020 but was pardoned by then-President Donald Trump in January of this year. He had previously been denied access to the UK owing to prior convictions.

The Strawberries & Creem event will replace Wayne’s act with a Ludacris appearance. Saturday ticket holders will also receive free admission on Sunday or discounted tickets for 2023.
