Rainn Wilson is known to have many notorious takes which he tweets out in humorous ways. However, it went terribly wrong when he sent out a tweet to the world which he clearly shouldn’t have. The Office star has come forward to apologize for it.
Wilson’s tweet was a joke in bad taste about the healthcare language for transgender people. His since-deleted tweet said that he learnt about how you can’t say “nursing or breastfeeding mother” and that there’s a different term for it.
TIL you can no longer say ‘nursing or breastfeeding mother’ you have to say ‘chestfeeding person.’ Just FYI.
The Office star then added that he talked to some of his Trans friends who educated him better on the issue. He admitted that he added a tinge of meanness as well as misinformation in the tweet, and then proceeded to apologize.
Yesterday I tweeted a mean crack about breastfeeding vs chestfeeding. After speaking with some Trans friends and educating myself a bit more I want to apologize for the tweet. It was adding to misinformation and meanness. I’m sorry.
Rainn Wilson’s tweet, as per The Daily Beast, possibly stems from a recent change in U.K. public health service guide. The guided called for the use of language that is more inclusive of trans parents, with midwifery specifically.
Wilson is not the only one who has been called to apologize for their offensive language. Lizzo recently apologized for some offensive lyric in her new long “GRRRLs.” A fan shed light on the fact that the lyric was an ableist slur.
