Former Shady Records artist Obie Trice got himself into some serious legal trouble. There was a time nearly two decades ago when Trice was signed to Eminem’s Shady Records and was forging a path in Hip Hop, but like many other artists before him, he ran into legal troubles that destroyed his personal life and professional career.
Trice was reportedly arrested and booked into Oakland County Jail on Thursday (June 16). According to Fox 2 Detroit, the 44-year-old rapper was arraigned in 48th District Court in Bloomfield Hills on a charge of using a telephone to harass or threaten someone.
The misdemeanor charge is punishable by a $1,000 fine, six months in jail or both. He’s currently being held on a $10,000 bond. Back in 2019, Trice became entangled with law enforcement after police were called to his home on the day of a shooting that injured his girlfriend’s teenage son.
Deputies were called to the home that day by a neighbor for a shooting. When deputies arrived, they learned a white car had sped off from the home on Woodvale. They went to the home and found a man walking out of the front door with a pistol in his right hand. Deputies ordered him to drop the weapon and go to the ground. He was arrested without incident.
According to The Detroit News, most recently, Trice was held for contempt of court, a complaint issued by the Oakland County Circuit Court for violating a personal protection order. The pending case was reassigned to another judge last month. Meanwhile, we haven’t heard much from Obie Trice musically in recent years, aside from his diss track to Nick Cannon during the actor’s most recent online beef with Eminem.
