Sydney Sweeney was thrust into the spotlight after her appearance on the hit HBO show, Euphoria. The show has been one of the biggest unexpected hits on cable. The edgy drama tells the story of a group of high school students as they navigate the temptations and experiences of the modern world. Recently, Sydney opened up about her character on Euphoria, Cassie.

While filming nude moments and sex scenes for TV and movies may appear to be daunting, Sydney is challenging our perceptions of what it takes and how it feels to bare it all for creativity’s sake. In a conversation with Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci for Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series presented by Apple TV+, the actress opened about the challenges of playing such a complex character.

While on the subject of the transformation she underwent in season two, Sydney said that “Cassie is dealing with trying to love herself in a moment where she does not love herself, and she’s looking for that from other people. And it’s so hard when you don’t know who you are.” When it comes to Cassie’s new love interest, Nate, Sydney shared her character uncovered a new personality trait.

“There is a manipulative side of Cassie — and I think she’s found that through Nate. She’s starting to realize that she can control him with fear, and she’s never had that aspect before because she’s always been the one that’s been fearful.”

As for how Cassie interacts with others and expresses love, Syd shared, “She doesn’t know how to communicate without showing her body. That is a form of communication for her, and she was never taught that you did not need that.” She further added after filming the risqué shots she “weirdly become very confident” with her body through portraying Cassie.

“It’s a very safe environment. I’m very fortunate that I am coming up during a time where there is so much thought in this process, and we now have intimacy coordinators,”

The 24-year-old also explained the role of an intimacy coordinator after Christina said she’d never worked with one. Sydney said, “They bring in tools, And we choreograph the whole thing.” She also asserted that she “never felt uncomfortable.” It’s good to know that the fan-favorite show is being shot in an inclusive and healthy filming environment.
