Kim Kardashian is well-known for her controversies. Kim has lately been blamed for causing damage to Marilyn Monroe’s dress. Kim has now responded to critics who said she ruined Marilyn Monroe’s dress at the 2022 Met Gala.
Kardashian is a massive admirer of the late Marilyn Monroe. It was earlier rumored that the SKIMS mogul ruined the late actress’ iconic dress at the 2022 Met Gala. In reality, Kim denied damaging the clothing during an interview with Today’s Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on June 21.
According to Eonline, Kim stated that she worked closely with Ripley’s museum to prevent the outfit from being marred. Marilyn Monroe wore the dress in 1962 while singing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy. When Hoda inquired if Kim “ruined” the dress, Kim said, “No.”
“There was handlers…that put it on me.” The mother of four, who attended the event with her boyfriend Pete Davidson, also revealed to the co-anchors that she only wore the gown for a few minutes before changing into a replica. Kim’s interview comes only days after alleged photos of the damaged dress surfaced online.
The Ripley’s museum, who purchased the dress for $4.8 million in 2016 and granted Kim permission to wear it to the Met Gala, defended the Kardashians star. Kim “did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala,” according to a June 16 statement from the brand.
During her Today interview, Kim stated that one of the reasons she was “so happy” to wear the outfit was that many of her young admirers had no idea who Marilyn Monroe was. “That was the most shocking thing to me,” Kim said. Kim stated that she wanted to pay tribute to Marilyn’s legacy. “I respect her, and I understand how much this dress means to American history.”
Kim seemed to appreciate Marilyn enough to damage her outfit. When it comes to big personalities like Kim, rumors spread quickly. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
