LeBron James is officially worth over a billion dollars. When you are one of the most famous athletes on the planet, there’s always somebody looking for a piece of the pie. One man once sought upwards of $4 million from King James by claiming that he was his birth father.

James famously grew up in a single-parent home. He has spoken openly about how his mother struggled to bring him up as a youngster. In 2010, a man named Leicester Bryce Stovell claimed to be his missing dad.

Stovell sued LeBron James and his mother Gloria for fraud, defamation, and misrepresentation. He said he had an intimate relationship with Gloria which led to LeBron’s birth when she was just 15 years old.

LeBron agreed to take a DNA test. After it showed that Stovell was not his father, Leicester claimed the test had been tampered with. The judge in charge of the case wanted no part of it.

US District Judge Collen Kollar-Kotelly threw the case out nearly immediately. The alleged father was unable to show any damages from LeBron James or his mother. The DNA test was also not a match.

Stovell again sued LeBron in 2013 after claiming that James defamed him by speaking about his absentee father. This was despite there being no evidence of him being James’ dad. Fortunately for LeBron James, the American justice system wasn’t buying the fraudulent claims.
