Johnny Depp was embroiled in a bitter defamation case against former wife Amber Heard. Though the court sided with Depp and decided to close the matter, the internet made sure the dramatic lawsuit stayed for eternity.
The online chatter regarding the case led to an old video of Depp and Dakota Johnson wherein the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor showed her his severed fingertip which, he testified, was allegedly caused by Heard in 2015.
A YouTube upload of the years-old video with the title “The EXACT moment Dakota Johnson KNEW Amber Heard was VIOLENT towards Johnny Depp…” has amassed millions of views.
Johnson told Vanity Fair she couldn’t recall the exact conversation she had with Depp at the 2015 Venice Film Festival, but noted she wanted no part of the Depp vs. heard discourse on the internet.
“I was like, ‘For the love of God, why? Why am I involved in this?’ I don’t remember that at all, but please, take me out of this. Don’t let this go further. Can you imagine, oh, my God, if I was called to the witness stand?”
“I can’t believe that people are watching [the trial] like it’s a show. It’s like it’s a courtroom drama and my heart breaks. It’s so, so, so crazy. Humans are so f**king weird. The internet is a wild, wild place.”
According to the New York Post, after 21 days, the case will move to the Court of Appeals of Virginia. Then, both parties will have 30 days to file a notice of appeal. Amber Heard appealing Johnny Depp will also be a very costly affair.
