R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking. The disgraced singer was found guilty on all counts in his federal trial. Just before R. Kelly was given a 30-year prison term in connection with his sex trafficking case, his former lover and fellow victim Azriel Clary shared a cryptic message.
Clary was one of the women living with Kelly at his Chicago residence. Clary, who had formerly vehemently backed him, ultimately testified against the artist in Kelly’s New York court case, which resulted in Kelly being found guilty. Clary took to Twitter to share a mysterious message just moments before his sentencing.
The devil don’t play fair, but God do!
Kelly was found guilty on every allegation of sexual abuse by a jury. The allegations included racketeering, bribery, coercion, inducement, and sex trafficking, with six female victims. Clary previously opened up to Gayle King in her first interview since the trial. “I was lost, and I felt invisible, and I gave someone that control over me to basically make me do whatever it was that they wanted me to do and act however they wanted me to act.”
She continued by outlining her 2019 interview with CBS News, in which she supported the singer and said Kelly made her “practice” her responses before she gave them on television. Clary has immersed herself in her musical ambitions in an effort to achieve healing and sexual empowerment for both herself and other women. She has released a new song called Inside Me and has an EP coming out this summer. Clary told the outlet that she is looking forward to better days and that she refuses to let Kelly’s abuse define her.
