Lala Kent’s ex-Randall Emmett has a hard time staying out of trouble. The movie producer made headlines again, but this time for all the wrong reasons. The producer is now being chastised for mistreating Bruce Willis despite the actor’s health issues.
According to Los Angeles Times, Randall Emmett recently came under fire for mistreating Bruce Willis. Despite the actor’s health problems, he allegedly tormented him. Willis’ attorney addressed the allegations that the producer was aware of the actor’s health issues, but still pushed him to work.
Despite many takes, the Die Hard franchise actor, now 67, was unable to kick open a door during a shoot for Midnight in the Switchgrass in September 2020. Willis’ lines were fed to him through an earpiece, since he couldn’t recall them. He was being coached on how to perform the scene at the moment.
Willis was even coached by a stunt coordinator, but he didn’t understand. The incident was witnessed by seven crew members. Emmett was directing for the first time. He even demonstrated how to perform the scene to Willis, but the actor didn’t catch on. According to eyewitnesses, the producer stormed out of the set in frustration, while Willis remained there dumbfoundedly asking, “Did I do something wrong?”
Emmett has been accused, among other accusations, of offering an actress work in exchange for sex. According to reports, he burst into tears on the phone with his then-fiancée, Lala Kent. However, Emmette’s representative denied any “decline in Mr. Willis’s health” and also denied any such conversations with Kent.
Despite these complaints, Emmett went on to make five more movies with Willis over the next 15 months. Willis’ health problems were hardly a secret, according to Alicia Haverland, a prop master for Midnight in the Switchgrass.
“It’s just so sad. Bruce can’t remember any of his lines. He doesn’t know where he is.”
“Our stunt coordinator mentioned he was struggling. Our first AD saw he was struggling. You would have to be blind to not see him struggling.”
“My client continued working after his medical diagnosis because he wanted to work and was able to do so, just like many others diagnosed with aphasia who are capable of continuing to work. Because Mr. Willis appeared in those films, they could get financed. That resulted in literally thousands of people having jobs, many during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
They were worried, especially because the actor continued to movies without a break, the majority of which were available on VOD. According to sources on the set, the actor was confused on several occasions and even asked, “Why am I here?” Even though Yahoo Entertainment interviewed Emmett last year about his experience directing Willis in Switchgrass, he made no mention of Willis’ difficulties.
“As a producer, when I walk on a set and see Bruce, I give him a hug, sit in my chair, watch the director direct, and then we go to dinner and I go home. When I was directing and Bruce walked onto the set, I was petrified! He’s a guy that I’ve known for 15 years, but I had to talk to him in a very different light.”
“If I didn’t like something, I’d have to tell him. So it was whole other psychology, but it ended up being better than I expected because he’s a giving actor. Willis took the role as a favor to me, not for the kind of money that he takes on all of his other movies. I mean, he’s Bruce Willis — he doesn’t need a lot of direction. That’s why I wanted to cast great actors in this: half the battle is already won there. It’s not like I had to teach anybody how to act!”
According to the most recent Los Angeles Times, Willis’ starred movies had a significant impact on Emmett’s production company’s success. So far, Emmett has rejected every allegation made against him in the article and has alleged that Kent is running a “smear campaign” against him. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
