The trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard dominated headlines for the previous few months. Johnny Depp emerged victorious with $10.35 million after a jury found in his favor in his defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard. It appears, Depp is set to forget the hellish past few months as he plans his next move.
Fans of Johnny Depp are getting the good news they’ve been waiting nearly half a decade for. PEOPLE reported that the actor was spotted in Paris as production for a new movie is underway. Unfortunately for fans, it isn’t a movie where he will don his hat and pistol with one shot.
At the movie set, the actor was seen clean-shaven and wearing a tan jacket with fringe over black jeans. His new film is by French filmmaker and actress, Maiwenn, called Jeanne du Barry. Depp is set to portray King Louis XV. The film follows the true story of commoner turned Countess Jeanne du Barry, a favorite of the King of France.
As good of news as this is for fans, we’ll see if the movie will hit too close to home. We just watched a trial that painted both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard as abusive and toxic. A film right out of the gate about a rocky relationship that ends in execution may be in bad taste. While many fans have been holding their breath for the next film to be a reprisal of his Jack Sparrow role, we wouldn’t hold our breath.
Last month, Depp denied the rumors surrounding his return to the fan-favorite franchise. Depp was reportedly close to finalizing a $301 million agreement with Disney to reprise his role as Jack Sparrow in a new Pirates movie and a series for Disney+. However, according to a spokeswoman for the 59-year-old Hollywood celebrity, this is untrue. Meanwhile, we will be on the lookout for more updates. Stay tuned to Thirsty.
