While the new season of the popular television series “Outer Banks” is still filming in South Carolina, a stand-in for Chase Stokes on the show was murdered this week in a terrible vehicle accident. This tragic story is even more disheartening, because it was also a hit-and-run situation.
According to TMZ, the 22-year-old who was killed was Alexander ‘AJ’ Jennings. Early on Tuesday morning in Charleston, he was hit by two vehicles, both of which left the scene. The coroner’s office reports that he died at 3:13 AM as a consequence of wounds he received in the two-car hit-and-run.
According to preliminary reports, Jennings was walking along a main thoroughfare between James Island and Folly Beach when he was hit around 2 AM. The first vehicle left him for dead, and not too long after that … Jennings was apparently hit by a second vehicle that also split — although that driver was reportedly later pulled over in a traffic stop.
Jennings was struck at roughly two in the morning while crossing a busy street between James Island and Folly Beach. He was left for dead by the first car, and soon after that, he was hit by another vehicle that also split.
When attempts to save Jennings’ life failed, he eventually passed away from his injuries. His company, Kimmie Stewart Casting, stated that Jennings had been employed on “Outer Banks” as a photo double or stand-in for John B, who is played by Chase, and is the primary character of the Netflix series.
Kimmie Stweart Casting commented on this tragedy to say, “I cannot fathom the shock and tragedy of AJ’s sudden loss, and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. I understand this message may be difficult to process for those of you that met & became fast friends with AJ.”
The case is still pending, and no charges have been made as of yet. Rest in peace, AJ.
