Shawn Mendes Postpones Shows To Prioritize His Mental Health

Shawn Mendes is in the middle of a huge world tour. However, he just postponed some of his next few shows. Apparently, the 23-year-old has been struggling with mental health issues. Being on the road for such a long time does take a toll, and it seems Mendes is at that point.

The singer-songwriter took to Instagram in order to tell his fans that he is taking a break from the tour. He revealed that he had been on tour ever since he was 15. He postponed the next three weeks’ worth of tour dates to spend some time with his family and friends.

This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT until further notice. I’ve been touring since I was 15 and to be honest it’s always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family.

Mendes revealed that he took a few years off touring, and he decided that it was time to get back into the groove. However, he deemed that to be premature after he once again got to a breaking point. Mendes conferred with his team and health professionals before taking the decision.

After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and Ive hit a breaking point. After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost. As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know love you guys.

The pop star kick-started his Wonder World tour on June 27th with a performance in Portland, Oregon. The star has shows scheduled throughout the United States and Canada all the way to October. Mendes will pick up the European edition of the tour starting in May 2023.
