Amber Heard recently did some legal maneuvering in hopes that the judge would throw out the verdict in her recent defamation trial with Johnny Depp. Amber’s legal team claims that one of the jurors should not have been eligible and that Depp’s team did not prove their case in court. Johnny’s lawyers are standing pat, as they believe the decision was fair.

TMZ reports that there is clear evidence that Johnny Depp suffered exactly the loss he sued Amber Heard over. Heard’s op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 was the main issue in the case. From the time that was written until October of 2020, Depp did not appear in one studio film.

According to court documents, Depp’s legal team believes that fact alone supports the $10 million judgment in their client’s favor. Another document points to the fact that Johnny Depp lost his role in the 6th “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. That was worth $22.5 million.

Just before Amber Heard’s op-ed being published, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said he was excited to work with Depp on the movie. Instead, Depp was fired from the role. It seems as though Heard may have gotten off easy.

Johnny Depp’s lawyers claim their client’s total loss was far more than $10 million. They estimate a number closer to $40 million. Still, Amber continues to seek a new trial.

Things don’t seem to be working out for Amber Heard’s various legal tricks. Johnny Depp and his lawyers believe the trial and verdict were fair. It remains to be seen if Amber will try anything else to avoid having to pay up.
