Former Yankees pitcher David Cone and his longtime partner Taja Abitbol have been together for more than 10 years. However, it seems as though they have finally ended their relationship.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Abitbol has been residing in Florida with her son, Sammy, while the athlete lives in New York. She exclusively verified to Page Six on Monday morning that their relationship has grown “complicated” because of it.
“We don’t know [what we are]. It’s rough with the travel situation. He’s always on the road. During baseball season it’s hard for us, and sometimes in the off-season it’s not hard for us. It’s complicated.”
Despite their breakup, a source claimed that Cone has been “extremely generous with [Abitbol] financially” and has “spent millions on her, bought her homes, and helped support her businesses” while they were in a relationship.
The color commentator could not respond because he was having a hip replacement on Monday morning, according to Cone’s representative. Abitbol didn’t seem to be there with him for the operation.
The restaurant owner had given the impression that she and the color commentator were still together by referring to them as “longtime engages” in an interview with The Post. She also denied setting a fire in a bid to appear on “The Real Housewives of New York City.” Stay tuned to Thirsty for more updates.
