Chris Pratt topped the box office twice this summer, once as the star in “Jurassic World Dominion” and once as a small supporting character in “Thor: Love and Thunder.” He also stars in the Amazon Prime Video action series “The Terminal List.” Chris has recently debunked the Indiana Jones rumor.
In January 2021, rumors spread that Chris Pratt will be the next Indiana Jones. It happened when Lucasfilm decided to reboot the adventure franchise after Harrison Ford’s legendary run. That will never happen for the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” stars.
During his appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Pratt put an end to the rumor for good. “I don’t even know who Steven Spielberg is. Who? Steven Who?” Pratt quipped before getting more serious. Pratt is alluding to a quote from Ford’s 2019 appearance on “Today.”
“No, aren’t they doing ‘Indiana Jones’ with Harrison Ford? All I know is I once saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don’t even know if it was really him but it was enough to scare me, that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies.’ And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?”
“Don’t you get it? I’m Indiana Jones. When I’m gone, he’s gone. It’s easy.”
Ford will reprise his role as Indiana Jones for the fifth time in a new film directed by James Mangold. The movie will be the first in the Indiana Jones franchise not to be directed by franchise co-creator Steven Spielberg. Disney has already scheduled a June 30, 2023 release date for Mangold’s picture.
Among those joining Ford in this new adventure are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas. Pratt will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Star-Lord in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” which will be released on May 5, 2023.
