Curt Schilling Doesn’t Think Brittney Griner Should Be Freed From Russian Prison

Brittney Griner’s detention in a Russian prison has been dragging on for months. After recently pleading guilty to a minor drug charge, the WNBA star is awaiting her fate. There have been plenty of efforts to free Griner around the United States, but at least one fellow pro athlete thinks Brittney deserves whatever sentence Putin’s courts hand down.

Curt Schilling was once known as one of the most feared starting pitchers in all of Major League Baseball. Since his retirement, he has been a prominent voice in the far-right media. Curt has worked for Breitbart as well as The Blaze.

That lines up perfectly with his pro-Russia opinion on the Brittney Griner case. In a response to LeBron James discussing the situation on Twitter, Curt Schilling responded with a controversial take. He thinks Brittney Griner should simply obey the law.

“I know this may seem like a stretch. But something like 300 million people understand “OBEY THE F*CKING LAW”, why is that such a challenge? And why on earth should she NOT pay the penalty for breaking another country’s laws?”

Brittney Griner has been in jail in Russia since her arrest in February. Authorities claim they found hashish oil in her luggage at a Moscow airport. Curt Schilling said that is more than enough for Griner to have to serve out her sentence.

The United States government officially classifies Brittney Griner as “wrongfully detained.” They have been negotiating with The Kremlin to bring her home. If she is found guilty and a deal is not struck for her release, Griner faces up to ten years in prison.
