The Major League Baseball Home Run Derby is supposed to be a fun affair where there isn’t a whole lot on the line. Fans fill up a ballpark in the All-Star Game’s host city and watch their favorites smash some dingers. With the derby being held in Los Angeles this year, it wasn’t such a laid-back event.

Dodgers fans have been giving themselves a pretty bad reputation since fans were allowed to return after the COVID-19 virus restricted attendance. Last October, a huge brawl broke out in the bleachers. In May, another fight took place that involved fans in the famous blue and white.

During the Home Run Derby, two fans got into it as Juan Soto and Julio Rodriguez put on a show for the rest of the audience. The fight took place in the left field bleachers at Dodger Stadium. It is unclear what caused the scrap.

A man in a Clayton Kershaw jersey unleashed a flurry of punches into another fan’s face. The two soon spilled onto the floor and began wrestling. This allowed bystanders to break up the fight.

After the fists were done flying, the man in the Kershaw jersey accused his counterpart of starting the fight. Nobody appears to have been seriously injured, although some egos may have been bruised. Hopefully, the fans got it out of their system.

The MLB All-Star game itself takes place tonight at 8:00 PM Eastern. With home-field advantage for the World Series on the line, who knows if fans might once again take things too seriously. Hopefully, it’s a peaceful night and the game goes off without a hitch.
