NBA YoungBoy was facing several years behind bars after a recent gun charge. His behavior on social media seemed grim, and it looked like the rapper was resigned to a future in prison. He was elated when a jury acquitted him on those charges and is now a free man.

Unfortunately, YoungBoy is still facing unrelated firearms charges. He has been on house arrest for that alleged crime in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now that he was acquitted on the other charge, he is petitioning the court to remove those restrictions.

AllHipHop obtained court documents relating to the case. NBA YoungBoy’s legal counsel filed a motion to modify a 2021 bail order. They have requested that he be removed from house arrest as soon as possible.

“Since the Court authorized the defendant’s release, two key events have transpired causing a material change in circumstances. First, this Court has suppressed critical aspects of the Government’s case casting doubt as to whether the weight of the admissible evidence favors the Government.

Second, [NBA YoungBoy] was acquitted in a parallel prosecution concerning the firearm found inside of his car when he was arrested on the underlying warrant in this case. As such, we believe that a modification of bail is in order and that the current release conditions are more onerous than necessary to assure his appearance or protect the commencing from danger.”

NBA YoungBoy has been serving his house arrest at his home in Utah. His legal team says that is no longer necessary and has been hurting his career. It will be interesting to see if the judge agrees with him and if YoungBoy is fully set free.
