Johnny Depp Confident After Amber Heard Appeals Defamation Lawsuit

Amber Heard filed an appeal in her ongoing legal battle with Johnny Depp recently. Heard does not believe she got a fair shake during the couple’s contentious defamation trial. The media circus surrounding the proceedings was unprecedented, and Amber wants another shot before a judge.

Heard believes that they have plenty of reason to file an appeal. Johnny Depp’s legal team is not sweating it. They are fully confident that they will once again prevail. The original verdict was awarded in Depp’s favor.

In a statement released to Deadline after Amber Heard filed her appeal, Depp’s legal team said they are sure that the same evidence will convince any judge or jury. The original verdict was unanimous, they said. Johnny’s lawyers do not anticipate that changing in a second trial.

“The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp, in multiple instances. We remain confident in our case and that this verdict will stand.”

The first verdict was handed down by a jury on June 1. Amber Heard was ordered to pay nearly $10 million in damages to Johnny Depp. She doesn’t think he’s owed a dime.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out in court. Amber Heard’s attorneys believe they have a solid case that was tainted by bias. She will get her second chance, but Johnny Depp does not seem very concerned about it.
