Actor Zac Efron has been in many projects following his star turning role in High School Musical. He recently starred in the Steven King adaptation, Fighter Starter and has long been rumored to play the iconic DC character Nightwing for Warner Bros. Discovery. Although the actor has grown a lot since his days walking the halls of East High, he did make a brief visit there.

The 34-year-old shared a photo of himself outside of Salt Lake High School, which served as the school for the hit Disney Channel movie. The actor can be seen wearing an all-black outfit and raising his fist in the air, ala Jude Nelson’s character from the teen 80’s classic The Breakfast Club.

The actor included a reference to the famous Simple Mind’s song, “Don’t you forget about me,” which played at the end of the beloved John Hughes flick. A giant banner celebrating 100 years of East High hung across the entrance. The photo excited long-time fans of High School Musical, with many of them wondering if it meant Efron would reprise his role as Troy Bolton.

High School Musical became a phenomenon after it premiered on the Disney Channel. It generated 7.7 million viewers when it premiered, breaking the then-record for the network’s highest-rated premiere. In 2019, Disney announced a Disney+ series based on the popular movie.
