Mark Wahlberg has had an incredible career in Hollywood, the actor is also a huge fan of sports. He has always been open about his support of Baker Mayfield, who was recently traded to the Carolina Panthers for a fifth-round pick. The actor has a few words to say about the new Carolina Panthers quarterback.
TMZ recently caught up with Mark Wahlberg in New York this week and asked him about the 27-year-old quarterback. The actor said he sees a “bright future ahead” of Baker even if it’s not in Foxborough.
It’s a very stacked field at the quarterback position. It also has to do with the coach and the team, but he’s got a big, bright future ahead of him.
Baker was traded to the Panthers after a bad fallout with Cleveland. It all began when the team signed Deshaun Watson to a huge contract in the offseason. With Watson facing a lengthy suspension, the team has kept Mayfield on the roster as a potential backup. Mayfield felt disrespected by the decision.
The Panthers will now have one season to evaluate Mayfield before his rookie contract expires. We will have to see how this plays out for him, and according to Wahlberg, the quarterback will do just fine.
