Instagram has significantly increased the number of Reels in their users’ feeds while limiting engagement on their posts. The site currently appears to be too similar to TikTok. The app’s second most-followed user even called Instagram out for it.

Kylie Jenner shared a screenshot of another user’s post on her Instagram Stories yesterday, wishing for Instagram’s golden days as a photo-sharing platform. “Make Instagram Instagram again,” the post says. “(Stop trying to be TikTok I just want to see cute photos of my friends). Sincerely, everyone.”

Kim Kardashian also put up the same post, which has received over 1.1 million likes. Nearly 100,000 people have signed the associated Change.org petition. Instagram’s gradual creep into TikTok territory is nothing new.

For months, Meta, which owns Instagram, has been promoting Reels, which is a TikTok clone product. The company has rewarded creators that make Reels with cash bonuses and has stated that it down-ranks videos that are shared from TikTok. Jenner appears to have suffered in silence up to this time.
