Brendan Fraser is one of those stars who had seized audiences after his successful roles in The Mummy & The Mummy Returns. However, after a few roles in The Mummy III, Journey To The Center Of The Earth and a few roles here and there, he mysteriously disappeared from the big screen for years. Now, he’s all set for his big return to the screen.
Nineties heartthrob Brandan has transformed into a 600 pound man for his new film The Whale. In a first look image from The Whale, Fraser has undergone a significant physical transformation in order to play an obese man.
The 53-year-old actor looks worlds away from the sculpted actor fans remember him as in George Of The Jungle and Encino Man. According to Variety, the A24 film was directed by Darren Aronofsky and sees Fraser play a man “living with obesity” and “struggling to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter”.
Fraser wore prosthetics in order to achieve the look. An adaptation of the 2012 play The Whale by Samuel D. Hunter, the drama will have its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. No release date has been set yet.
Fraser previously discussed his role in the film during an interview with Unilad, where he discussed the ‘extensive’ and ‘cumbersome’ wardrobe and predicted the role would make a ‘lasting impression.’ We can definitely see how that getup was cumbersome. Meanwhile, you can check out his look for the movie below. Stay tuned to Thirsty.
