Dana White and Vince McMahon come from two different worlds, but their job has always been the same. McMahon’s fights may be fake, but the business is largely similar. While the two have had some bad blood in the past, the UFC boss has nothing but respect for the now-retired WWE chairman and CEO.
At the outset of the COVID pandemic, Dana White and Vince McMahon were on a call with President Donald Trump. McMahon became angry with White for not backing him up. White referred to him as a “killer.”
That’s exactly what makes Dana White respect Vince McMahon. The two have not always seen eye-to-eye, but Dana understands the kind of businessman Vince was. During a press conference after the first week of White’s ‘Contender Series,’ White gave his thoughts on McMahon.
“Oh, I got stories about Vince for days, but yeah, what that guy built and what he’s done is incredible. He’s been doing it for 50-plus years. I watched that stuff as a kid, and then to still be here and doing it now, is phenomenal.
He’s a killer, he’s buried the hatchet in my back a few times, but that’s what you’re dealing with. You don’t deal with a killer and not expect them to try to kill you. Yeah, I have nothing but respect for Vince.”
Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE amid a hush money scandal where he paid employees to keep quiet about inappropriate relationships. Since stepping aside, his daughter, Stephanie McMahon was named co-CEO of the company. While many thought of Vince as an unscrupulous and ruthless businessman, Dana White thinks that’s what made him successful for all those decades.
