Rockstar Games announced the next mainline installment of its biggest and critically successful open-world crime franchise back in February. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for more details. GTA VI will also be a historic game for a very good reason now.
Ever since its inception back in the 90s, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has largely seen players play as male protagonists. Each mainline game had its own interesting protagonist.
While GTA VI might be more than a year away or even longer, a huge detail was just announced. According to Jason Schreier for Bloomberg, GTA VI will mark the first time in the series that players will take a female role.
The report also says that the sixth installment will feature two main characters and take a similar path to the story of Bonnie and Clyde. It will take place in a fictional version of Miami. Fans of GTA: Vice City will especially be happy about this, as the game took place in the 80s version of Miami as well.
GTA VI is set to release anywhere between April 2023 to March 2024. We will have to wait and see whether it will be anywhere near as impactful as its predecessors or not.
