James Gunn is one of today’s most popular directors. Before he became famous, he was best known as the screenwriter for the live-action Scooby-Doo movies released in 2002 and 2004. Gunn recently stated that he believes Warner Bros. would be open to an R-rated ‘Scooby-Doo’ film.
Gunn has been upfront about his time working on this legendary property and what a third picture would have looked like in recent years. Gunn now believes that if he asked, Warner Brothers would support a Scooby-Doo 3 rated-R. Gunn shared it in a Twitter response to a fan who asked what would have to happen for a third picture to be made.
The fan uploaded an interview with Toofab in which Matthew Lillard as Shaggy indicated an interest in an R-rated revival with the original cast. “Rightly or wrongly, they don’t have the guts to make that movie,” said Freddie Prinze Jr., who portrayed Mystery Inc. leader Fred. Gunn chimed in.
“I think they’d do it if we asked. I just don’t think I have the time right now! ”
Gunn appears to have a good working relationship with WB, so it’s possible. Let’s see what happens. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Thirsty.
