Tyler Perry is one of the most talented actors and filmmakers in Hollywood. Before making the transition to the big screen and playing Madea, his career began with theatrical shows. Being a filmmaker in Hollywood is largely about reputation. Critics have not given his most recent movies positive reviews.
Tyler Perry recently appeared on the PEOPLE Every Day podcast. He discussed how young, upcoming actors who were receiving significant media attention turned down his next Netflix film ‘A Jazzman’s Blues.’ The 52-year-old filmmaker claimed in the podcast that teams are made up of actors and actresses but everyone had some hesitation about working with him.
I was disappointed with the film because I had to go to several young artists who were getting lots of attention. So I asked them about their interest in playing the role. They read the script, they loved the script, but I think there was a reservation or hesitation about working with me in particular on this film, because I guess they didn’t know how it would turn out. It’s too bad for them.
The latest actor to appear in a Netflix film was Perry. It garnered some favorable reviews and some negative ones for A Fall from Grace, faults in the movies that viewers couldn’t help but notice. Although it makes sense from a financial standpoint, it’s still unfortunate that the Gone GirlActors who are vying for fame will pass up the chance.
Fortunately, Tyler Perry is not letting those rejections get to him, because he has expressed his pride in the cast of his most recent film. Tyler Perry said he can’t wait for the young talent that rejected his movie to finally watch it for themselves as he wrapped up his podcast. A Jazzman’s Blues hits Netflix subscription on September 23rd, 2022.
