The driver who killed Nicki Minaj’s father, Robert Maraj, in a hit-and-run, was recently sentenced to prison. After pleading guilty to two felony charges of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and tampering with physical evidence, Charles Polevich was sentenced to one year in prison on Wednesday.
According to TMZ, his driver’s license will be suspended for six months, and he will be fined $5,000. Polevich faced up to seven years in prison. However, Judge Howard Sturim followed through on his commitment to sentence him to no more than one year.
Nicki’s father died at the age of 64 after being hit in a hit-and-run accident while walking on Long Island in February 2021. Cops reported at the time that the driver fled the scene.
Polevich also reportedly attempted to hide the car in a detached garage at his place. Robert was taken to the hospital in severe condition and died as a result of his injuries.
