Brittney Griner Found Guilty By Russian Court Of Possession & Smuggling

Brittney Griner’s detention in a Russian prison has been going on for months. After recently pleading guilty to a minor drug charge, the WNBA star is awaiting her fate. She has been found guilty of drug charges.

There have been plenty of efforts to free Griner around the United States, but Curt Schilling is not one of them, because he believes she deserves the full extent of the sentence she will be given. Donald Trump is also not a fan of bailing Griner out.

According to NPR, Griner was found guilty by a Russian court on Thursday of charges including drug smuggling and possession. At the time of this writing, a sentence had not been announced.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Griner said, “I want to apologize to my teammates, my club, my fans and the city of (Yekaterinburg) for my mistake that I made and the embarrassment that I brought on them.”

She also mentioned her family and “my amazing spouse back at home,” as well as the Phoenix Mercury organization. We will have to wait and see how long she will remain in prison now. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing story.
