Bob Odenkirk is best known for his portrayal of the shady lawyer Saul Goodman in the AMC crime drama series Breaking Bad and its spin-off Better Call Saul. Odenkirk suffered a heart attack last year while filming the Breaking Bad prequel’s final season in New Mexico. He has now opened up about collapsing on the set of Better Call Saul, claiming that he would have passed away “in a few minutes” if his coworkers had not administered CPR.
His emergency surgery to clear up the artery that the actor referred to as “the widowmaker” was performed in the hospital after crew members phoned an ambulance. Odenkirk recently appeared for an interview with the Radio Times. He claimed that Patrick Fabian, who plays Howard Hamlin, and Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim Wexler, grabbed his head and hand and motioned for him to stay with them.
I went down on one knee, and then I went all the way down. I guess I said, ‘I don’t feel very good.’ I wasn’t breathing. I mean, if nobody had been there, if they didn’t do that CPR, I’d have been dead in a few minutes.
Odenkirk went to the exercise bike he used in between scenes as the cast and crew, who had been shooting all day, changed shots. He began to watch a Chicago Cubs baseball game on television before passing out. The show’s health officer had a defibrillator in the trunk of her car, so while she raced to get it, qualified staff performed CPR before administering three shocks from the defibrillator.
Odenkirk claimed he couldn’t recall what happened right after his collapse. After six seasons on Netflix, Better Call Saul will end next week. Odenkirk portrays Saul Goodman, a shady Albuquerque attorney who degenerates into greater corruption. Stay tuned to Thirsty for latest updates.
