When Drake wore a shirt honoring the late Punjabi musician at his All Canadian North Stars performance last month, he made it clear that he had a soft spot for Sidhu Moose Wala. Fans now have strong reason to anticipate a musical collaboration between the two superstars.
This week, D-Teck, a renowned New York DJ and the CEO of Wazzup Media Group, dropped a not-so-subtle indication that Drizzy is working on a composition that would feature vocals by Wala, who was fatally shot dead in India in May.
D-Teck wrote on Twitter,
“Be Patient ! It’s coming 🚜 🦉 stop asking me for details 😄”
Since Wala, a farmer’s kid, frequently made references to the HMT 5911 tractor model in his songs, some of his admirers even started referring to him as “5911.” Drake also undoubtedly has a soft spot for owls, since one is featured in the OVO logo. Fans naturally started to assume that a joint track between the two hip-hop musicians is on its way.
In case you didn’t get the hint, D-Teck then retweeted a fan-made Drake and Wala collab that included Drizzy’s verses from “Chicago Freestyle.” After that, D-Teck made it further clearer on Wednesday.
“Tupac and 50cent, Biggie and Bob Marley, French Montana and Chinx, Pop Smoke and 50cent and many others collaborated posthumously. What make y’all think a [tractor emoji] x [owl emoji] collab is impossible or far fetched when they were both was fans of each other and respected each other a lot ?”
We have to wait to see if a collab ends up happening. And if it happens, it’ll be worth the wait. Keep an eye on Thirsty to get further updates.
